Mensa6 is a table with a 6mm-thick table top and only four separate pieces. The minimal construction comes from designer Michael Schougaard Svane, whose passion for simplicity has earned him a Reddot design award. The construction of Mensa6 achieves maximum strength and sustainability by using minimal materials.

The Fuse Table, designed by V2 Studio in London, aligns three strong materials – ash, lacquer, and steel – in seamless conversation. The mix of color lends and texture delineates the three core areas of the table and their individual purpose. London-based Fredrikson Stallard’s Silver Crush Table employs aluminum, glass, and stainless steel to stunning effect. At large scale, the table is a play on the delicate nature of silver sheets, easily manipulate and crumpled by hand. In practice, the table also interacts superbly with light becoming an active and vocal participant in its chosen interior. Designed to squirrel away unsightly wires in an elegant fashion, the Wilbur Table pulls from 1950s designs by architect Egon Eiermann. The base idea is simple – a practical solution for housing cables. The channel underneath the table funnels all cables to your power source and maintains and clean aesthetic. Sold in a “system”, the Wilbur allows allows a choice of table tops and bases.

Built of teak and set for easy conversion to a conference table, the limited edition Ping Pong set from James Perse reflects the brands laid back, California cool. Hand made in the USA, the table is regulation size and fitted with a handsome leather bound net. Paddles are housed in an equally well thought out space, underneath the table is housed an upholstered game drawer.

Oscar Magnus Narud’s ‘Keel’ collection employs an ingenious joinery solution in which keel-shaped legs are fitted into a rough Douglas Fir table top, and secured underneath with a hefty Ashwood wedge. “Keel” draws inspiration from traditional Norwegian furniture, but is sympathetic to the contemporary domestic environment. The table can easily be taken apart for moving or storage.

Uhuru, a Brooklyn based furniture company, has designed the Boardwalk Table as an ode to Coney Island. The table stands for the areas duality, dreary winters followed by vibrant summers. The wood itself is actually reclaimed from the old Coney Island boardwalk – Uhuru is all about sustainability and this piece is actually part of a larger “Coney Island series.”
