Opening on June 30, 2011 OHWOW’s latest group show shares the work of nine new millennium New York artists.

Post 9-11 is a group exhibition distinct of a decade and definitive of an era. The work of the nine artists represented (Dan Colen, Terence Koh, Hanna Liden, Nate Lowman, Adam McEwen, Ryan McGinley, Agathe Snow, Dash Snow, and Aaron Young) defies categorization into a particular movement or style, yet poignantly references a collective history through works of painting, photography, sculpture, and installation.

The group is inspired by the city and influenced by a new notion of shared community and history following 9-11. Above is an example from Ryan McGinley. Work by Dan Colen is shown after the jump.

“3+1″ at Galerie du Jour – agnès b

Opening on September 9, 2010, at Galerie du Jour, a group show featuring Harmony Korine, Dash Snow, and Ryan McGinley. Korine, writer of the film KIDS, paints dark abstract figures which balance nicely with McGinley’s compositions and Snow’s abstract photographs (above). One might suggest that if you mash up McGinley and Snow you get Korine. That analysis, however, is overly simplistic. Still, the reasoning behind showing alongside the more well-known names is pretty obvious.

Arrested Motion previewed the exhibition. We share that here too.

Ryan McGinley “Everyone Knows This is Nowhere”

Ryan McGinley’s exhibition of new nudes, “Everyone Knows This is Nowhere,” opened last night at Team Gallery (83 Grand St, New York). T Magazine caught up with the young artist several days before the opening. The interview reveals quite a bit about McGinley’s working habits, and discusses his use of digital for this project. It marks the first time he’s played with the medium – chosen because of his desire to capture candid portraits in a studio setting.

Personally, I find the new work disturbing, if mostly for the youthful nature of the sitters. This, however, also makes it very successful.

Team Gallery will show the work through April 17, 2010.
