Belgian artist Roa recently put up some work in Gambia, including the giraffe above.  The video after the jump features another one of his pieces in the Gambia series.

ROA has posted a new mural, this one in Los Angeles, to FLICKR. Located on Imperial Street, downtown LA.

Just a reminder, the artist currently has a show at Skalitzers in Berlin.

Roa hits Berlin this tomorrow with a two fold agenda – one, open Transit at Skalitzers Contemporary Art; two, launch his new book, ROA: An Introduction To Animal Representation.

Transit, the exhibition, focuses on the cycle of life through works produced during a ten day passage in Berlin. The new material will be on view through August 6, 2011.

While preparing his exhibition at White Walls earlier in the year, Roa made sure to leave a lasting impression on the city of San Francisco. Unurth has compiled the work, which follows on the signature large scale black and white animals we’ve come to expect from the Belgian. Still, they continue to impress and find dynamism not just in subject, but also in a deft understanding of how to play off location.

Chicago’s Pawn Works recently facilitated several large scale murals in the Windy City by Roa. Typical in both detail and scale… yet, still totally impressive.

After installing his portion of Art in the Streets at MoCA, ROA headed north from Los Angeles to San Francisco. This video is filmed, scored and edited by Spencer Keeton Cunningham.

Belgian street art legend Roa opened a new show over the weekend at San Francisco’s White Walls. Arrested Motion has shared a look at the installation, which features Roa’s now trademark use of mixed material “canvases” – from metal grates to fused metal doors – which add texture and depth to the murals. Combine that and the famed animal subjects, and what Roa brings to galleries represents the street work much more seamlessly than many of the artist’s contemporaries manage.
