Street artist and comic creator Phlegm recently posted that his latest work, a comic titled “Eyes in the Vines,” will be released August 17. The comic is limited to 300 copies, and will run for around $16, though he also made a single-color cover for around $10. Phlegm describes the “Eyes in the Vines” cover as “a kind of William Morris wall paper with eyes in the vines.”

More super work from Phlegm. This time his surface is a canal barge, and his subject fits perfectly. In the past, Phlegm has painted a plane, so a boat makes total sense as new space for paint based exploration.

Phlegm’s latest, a mural titled “Funeral”, is right in line with the artist’s recent quality. Highly detailed, distinct in narrative, and with a dash of dark undertone. Phlegm is fast becoming my favorite muralist in the street art scene.

You might have noticed that I quite like Phlegm’s work. The artist’s murals have great detail and narrative, and an almost old fashioned air about them that goes against the tide of contemporary street art.

This print has just been released. Sadly, it is already sold out. However, that is no reason not to share the potential of the Englishman’s work away from city streets.

Sheffield’s Phlegm and Belgium’s Roa were in London together last week to work with Robots – a Big Smoke based art collective. Phlegm’s work in the courtyard of the Bussey Building in Peckham is pretty awesome. You’ll see some of that above. You’ll see more after the jump.
