In Vienna, outdoor furniture serves more than just a restful function. Well, at least, outside the MuseumsQuartier it does. The Enzo collection, designed by MN*LS Creative Consultancy, offers a flexible modular set up allowing for both play and rest. Given that the previous set were lost to fire, MN*LS gave the second iteration a fire proof element. Smart stuff. Smart design. (via Design Milk).

Loving a good bench as I do, I couldn’t help but to get excited about Dezeen’s coverage of Studio Weave’s triumphant design in Littlehampton, UK. Providing seating for approximately 300 people, the meandering bench is constructed of reclaimed tropical hardwoods. The best element is the twisting and turning nature of the structure, giving life beyond function and turning the average bench into a specticle. Particularly excellent are the portions of franetic loop housed in bronze shelters.

Fermob, a French firm specializing in outdoor furniture, has invited Jean-Charles de Castelbajac to reinterpret some of their most iconic offerings. He’s added romance and colored roundels to his chosen reference points. Some of the pieces will go on sale direct from Fermob next week, while some signed and numbered items will be auctioned off. Winners of the auction will be invited to join Jean-Charles at October’s fashion week. (via Viacomet).
