Anthony Lister was recently commissioned by Fox to paint a mural in West Hollywood for the DVD release of the film.

At the corner of La Cienega and Venice Blvd in Los Angeles, a new series of murals is set to go up:

Triple A is a two-year public art project initiated by Francois Ghebaly, Emma Gray, Mandrake Bar and OHWOW. Eight internationally recognized artists will be asked to create a single color image to be painted at large scale on the exterior wall of a former muffler shop that sits at the corner of Venice Boulevard and La Cienega Boulevard, just south of the 10 Freeway in Los Angeles California. The wall, situated in the Culver City gallery district, also sits at one of the most heavily trafficked intersections in Los Angeles.This location offers high visibility to both arts professionals and the larger general public.

Newsweek produced this fun interactive feature calling three architectural firms – Michael Maltzan Architecture, Gensler and cityLAB – to offer their vision on how Los Angelenos will live, work, commute and play in their city come 2030. The above film shows an example from the experiment.

Already with studios in Tokyo and New York, Takashi Murakami is set to open an animation studio in Los Angeles. His animation work is probably best known via Kanye West’s “Good Morning Video,” and the first full-length feature will grow from the shorts shown at Murakami’s well recieved mid-career retrospective. The studio will fall under the KaiKai Kiki production end of the Murakami brand. Look for the output (and possibly legend) of Murakami to grow in the near future. (Via LA TImes).

Located in LA, and host to Nike Sportswear’s Cinema Tuesday, The Montalban is getting a fresh skin curtesy of local lad Geoff McFetridge. A massive undertaking, the work covers the majority of the buildings facade in signature mural style. Geoff is not entirely alone, Pottok Prints has provided the wallpaper.
