OUTSIDE IN is a celebratory and historical look at street art through the lens of the Museum of Contemporary Art’s groundbreaking exhibition Art in the Streets. The film features renowned artists Shepard Fairey, Lee Quiñones, Swoon, Futura, Mister Cartoon, Revok, Martha Cooper, Invader to name a few. Director Alex Stapleton (Corman’s World: Exploits of a Hollywood Rebel) documents the artist’s creative process, their pitfalls with the law, the poetic impermanence of their craft and the artists’ evolution from the back seat of a cop car to the walls of a well-respected institution.

Filmed at The Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles (MOCA) in conjunction with the exhibition Art in the Streets.

Presented by Levi’s.

espo levis moca 01 curatedmag PURE FTP with Stephen Powers for Levi’s x MOCA

Previously unannounced, the PURE FTP with Stephen Powers for Levi’s x MOCA will release this weekend (May 21, 2011). The trucker jacket series, celebrating some of the biggest names from the Art in the Streets exhibition has produced some real quality, and this is no exception. I’m an unabashed fan of ESPO, so take that for what it is worth, but I’m genuinely quite impressed by MOCA’s corporate sponsorship surrounding the exhibition as well.

Learn a little more about the collaboration between PURE and Powers after the jump.

More brand collaboration relating to “Art in the Streets” at MoCA. I like these… why? Because the intersection between street art and corporate America is integral to the story and it is not only fitting, but historically wise to have made these collaborations – with Nike, LEVI’s, and MTN happen.

Full press release and more images relating to the LEVI’s x MoCA trucker jacket after the jump. The Shepard Fairey version is above. Jackets from REVOK, Kenny Scharf, and many more are in the gallery.
