Updated design for the standard light bulb. Flat.

Flat Bulb by Joonhuyn Kim 540x461 Updated design for the standard light bulb. Flat.

An interesting idea from Korean designer Joonhuyn Kim. As practical as it is to have a flat light bulb, say in regards to shipping perhaps, or storage, or even in the carry home… I think this may be too smart for it’s own good. What it gains in efficiency of transport, it looses in uniformity of light. Not to say I’m not disappointed I can’t get a few of these for my apartment (sadly, they aren’t in production). Because how cool is a flat light bulb? Images after the jump.

mmm 01 curatedmag Maison Martin Margiela presents the hotel ‘la Maison Champs Elysées

Maison Martin Margiela happily announce a new collaborative project, which finds the fashion house reworking the interiors of the La Maison Champs-Elysees.

La Maison Champs-Elysées consists of two buildings, one dating from the Second Empire under Napoleon III, the other built more recently. Maison Martin Margiela, appointed after winning the competition to design the historical part of the building, has re-thought this space to create hotel suites, a restaurant, a smoking room, a bar and a reception area. In designing this project Maison Martin Margiela aimed for continuity in relation to its own artistic history by offering a place where contrasts harmonize that are further tinged with surrealism.

The hotel, located at the junction of Avenue Montaigne, the Grand Palais and Place de la Concorde, will open in July of 2011.

A look at the Maison Martin Margiela interiors after the leap.

The latest interior design project from acclaimed David Collins Studio draws influence from simple Italian cooking to create a relaxed environment for Chef Massimo Riccioli’s new London eatery. Collins says, ““our vision was to make this restaurant simple, informal, enjoyable and beautiful – as always translating words into reality is a journey, and this journey has been exciting and fun.” Mixing English architectural references with classical Italian styling, the design reflects the beauty of Massimo’s cooking. With a high vaulted ceiling, the overall space has a feeling of grandeur, softened through the addition of a shallow ceiling and graceful lunettes above each of the many windows.

Massimo is located in Central London.

The 2254-square-foot restaurant has been divided into various scenes from the 1951 animated film and includes psychedelic decorations, dramatic designs and even waitresses dressed as Alice. Nike’s latest Stadium concept space recently opened in Milan. Inspired by the elasticity and flexibility of the sneaker, architects Maat Architettura create a fluid environment that encourages seamless movement throughout.
