HLeeman02 540x302 Video | Hugh Leeman

Hugh Leeman is an artist living and working in San Francisco. He is self taught. He is helping those that go unnoticed and overlooked to be remembered.

At 18, he grabbed his backpack and traveled the world, hopping trains to see as much as he could. Three years later, he was in the Tenderloin for a six-month stopover. He’s not quite sure why he never left. Inspired by the work that Shepard Fairey and others were doing at the time with wallpaper glue from the hardware store, a world of possibilities exploded in his mind. via: The Bold Italic

Watch the video recently created to spotlight his social mission and hopes for the future of the Tenderloin after the jump.

hughleemanJR Video| Hugh Leeman + JR for The Inside Out Project

“Inside Out” is a large-scale art project where even the subjects were participants. Hugh Leeman, whose artistic works often focus on those who exist at the periphery of society rather than those who are part of the socioeconomic middle class, reached out to JR for this project, and the result is a collaborative mural residing at 606 Ellis Street in the Tenderloin district of San Francisco. The mural features photographs taken by the artists themselves, as well as by the subjects of one another.
