The one thing that I took away from my time in Paris, is if it’s in Colette, you should probably own it. These Colab sunglasses are no exception. If you can pull this look off, do it.

Anthony Lister (US/AUS) an Australian born painter turned Brooklyn based superhero. His work can be seen on both the street and gallery walls of London, NYC and Australia. Anthony explores the iconography of modern society. These icons take the form of cartoons and superheroes engrained in our youth by television and pop culture. Mr Lister’s work questions the reality and value of these modern gods and goddesses. There’s one thing for sure, Anthony Lister’s super power is the Midas touch.

Launched in New York City in 2011 Convoluted Construct merges fashion with art and art with fashion. The brand contextualize high-fashion with fine art, generating inspiration
from the coexistent synergies that complement both styles of  self-expression. That comes through in Limited-Edition, deluxe apparel that showcases artistic talent as fashion installments.

Oliver Cartwright has announced plans to launch a new t-shirt brand, which is self titled, to be sold direct from his site. The designs are all about taking fresh artistic approaches inspired by positive things and his personal love of futurism. The brand proposes to give people a chance to wear art, not designs that are specifically for t-shirts, but artwork applied to t-shirt. The brand is all about art first. Collaborators include photographer Volker Fleck.

To commemorate the opening of Naomi KAZAMA’s “Flat White” exhibiton, Stussy Japan has pulled together this little number. The show opened today and will run through June 19, 2011.

A pupil of Shepard Fairey, KAZAMA specializes in experimental wheat paste.

The exhibition is held at COMMON.

I’m pretty excited about the California Running collection from K-Swiss. I’m also a fan of the employment of Jake Davis’ test shot series as a form of viral advertising for the garments. Jake regularly selects great subjects and Ms. Dantec is no exception. He’s channeling “10″ and I for one am not mad. Got the Bo Derek Playboy stashed away somewhere…

The mischievous John Waters connects with fellow Baltimore native Aaron LaCrate for a special edition Milkcrate t-shirt. “Have Sex In A Voting Booth” is the message.

“His & Hers explores the relationship between gender and fashion over the past 250 years. Clothing can act as an immediate signifier of gender – however, while making distinctions between “masculine” and “feminine” styles of clothing may seem natural, gendering is not a biological phenomenon. While much of the show discusses the changing ideas of “appropriate” attire for each gender, it also includes examples of so-called unisex and androgynous fashion. More than 100 garments, accessories, and textiles from the Museum’s permanent collection are featured chronologically, from a seemingly “feminine” 18th-century man’s velvet suit, to a woman’s “power suit” from the 1980s. Other works include  innovative designers such as Giorgio Armani, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Gianni Versace, and Vivienne Westwood. The exhibition is curated by Colleen Hill and Jennifer Farley.”

The exhibition is on view at the Fashion Institute of Technology through May 10, 2011. Additionally, the terrific online component may be visited here.

On view through May 13, 2011 Icon Tattoo proposes to raise the stature of tattooing in art and push away from stereotypes. Frankly, that is the aim of all tattoo related exhibitions, but here the focus is firmly on fashion making for a unique assemblage of photographs and objects. No surprise, Nicola Formichetti’s recent Mugler campaign is highlighted, and there are also sections devoted to tattoo photography and preparatory drawings.
