MashKulture reports, “Currently on display at Amsterdam’s Muziekgebouw concert hall is Delta’s new exhibit, Subduction Zones. Created to welcome the World Minimal Music Festival, which launches this Wednesday, the exhibit showcases large-scale, floating sculptures constructed from plates of varying materials, shaped into forms, using minimal colours. Shifting away from graffiti, Subduction Zones shows Delta’s progression from the streets to a contemporary artist. The exhibit runs until April 25th.”

2011 shotbyjake.com 7010 Infinite Variety: Three Centuries of Red and White Quilts

Sadly short in run, Infinite Variety is one of the most stunning installations of American folk art to hang in New York City.

About the exhibition -

The American Folk Art Museum has dramatically transformed the Park Avenue Armory’s historic 55,000-square-foot Wade Thompson Drill Hall with the installation of 650 red and white American quilts, all of which are on loan from the collection of Joanna S. Rose. It is the largest exhibition of quilts ever held in the city.

The quilts will remain on display through Wednesday this week (March 30, 2011) having only just opened on Friday.

Make sure to catch the exhibition if you can.

On view through March 26, 2011, Spruth Magers Gallery hosts a comprehensive exhibition of painter Andreas Schulze. The artist’s work focuses on the power of illusion in painting. His canvases employ abstract shapes to form idyllic landscapes… which, of course, hidden meanings related to privacy and fear of alienation.

The new and recent works are complemented in the gallery by site specific installation. (via Art School Vets).

Cool Hunting has reported on Cover Version (LP), the second exhibition curated by Timothy Hull to take on the theme of artists on popular culture covers. The first hinged on book covers, and now Hull’s got artists tackling famous LP’s. Ami Kealoha writes, “Predictably, the resulting exhibit currently at the Brooklyn Academy of Music runs the range from the iconic (Grace Jones’ Night Clubbing by Colby Bird) to sardonic ( Mathew Cerletty’s stock photograph version of Harvest) and silly (a topless girl astride a dinosaur as envisioned by Dave McDermott).”

The exhibition is on view through March 2011.
