The Guggenheim wants to paint your interiors.

Guggenheim Paint The Guggenheim wants to paint your interiors.

Wowza. I’ve always wanted the same color scheme in my house as the Mountains at Saint-Rémy.

The Guggenheim Museum has launched two collections of interior paint colors. It’s a genius idea for a museum, a natural extension of its brand, utilitarian, yet absolutely art-oriented.

50 Gallery Colors is a collection of neutral hues that the museum has used over the years as backdrops for its artwork and photographs. It even includes the archival shades that the architect Frank Lloyd Wright selected when he designed the building. The other set, called Classical Colors, is composed of 150 shades pulled from paintings in the museum’s permanent collections, including works by Paul Cézanne, Vasily Kandinsky, and Vincent van Gogh. via: Design Milk

Ai Weiwei Forever Bicycle Installation in Taiwan

What an incredible image this is. Created by China’s Ai Weiwei and titled Forever Bicycle, it is an impressive feat. Now if only he could attend his own show. This piece is part of the larger show fittingly called Absent. After his imprisonment, the Chinese government is keeping close tabs on the most prominent artist the country has produced in the recent past and is not allowing him to attend. Let’s just hope he continues to stay a free man (of sorts) and another unjust imprisonment is not in his future.

iphonemegaphoneppic 540x303 Video | iPhone megaphone. Seriously.

Have you ever been sitting around and thought, I wish I could get all the old time analog sound from a gramophone out of my iPhone? Well be still your nostalgic audiophile heart, the folks over at en&es have just given you something to pine over for the upcoming gifting season. Made entirely of ceramic, it does have an interestingly haunting and rich analog quality of sound… that is, if represented honestly in the video. Which along with more images, is after the fold.

Aluminum Wire Composition Chair by Kouchi Okamoto

composition chair big a 540x359 Aluminum Wire Composition Chair by Kouchi Okamoto

Intricate and astounding, this chair took six months to make. As stated by Kyouei Design:

This chair was handmade by Kouichi Okamoto himself, spent over 6 months for one chair. It was created by bending aluminium wire and crossing it one by one. No bolts or welding is used at all. The tools used for this design are only a jig and a pair of pliers.

That is some commitment. I wonder how comfortable it is. Detailed photos after the jump.

Updated design for the standard light bulb. Flat.

Flat Bulb by Joonhuyn Kim 540x461 Updated design for the standard light bulb. Flat.

An interesting idea from Korean designer Joonhuyn Kim. As practical as it is to have a flat light bulb, say in regards to shipping perhaps, or storage, or even in the carry home… I think this may be too smart for it’s own good. What it gains in efficiency of transport, it looses in uniformity of light. Not to say I’m not disappointed I can’t get a few of these for my apartment (sadly, they aren’t in production). Because how cool is a flat light bulb? Images after the jump.
