Well be still your nostalgic audiophile heart, the folks over at en&es have just given you something to pine over for the upcoming gifting season. Made entirely of ceramic, it does have an interestingly haunting and rich analog quality of sound… that is, if represented honestly in the video. Which along with more images, is after the fold.

I can’t get enough of this stuff!

Seriously, the current vogue for ceramic skate art is intriguing and the yielded some terrific material. This project, entitled VALLISON, comes from Chilean design collective Material.cl. The decks were initially launched in November, taking part in THIS Los Angeles‘ “Latin American Design” exhibition. All are hand painted or silkscreen, produced in the common proportions of the average skateboard.

Alex Garnett worked with bone China to create the “Goliath” pendant lamp shade. The giant scull casts its own shadow and despite coming without fittings promises easy installation. A nice addition to any morbidly designed interior.

Disillusion will present a series of new paintings and ceramics by English artist Dan Baldwin. Bridging the gap between abstraction and figurative drawing, Baldwin builds from a meeting of popular culture and myth. The work included in Disillusion stems from the period directly after his 2008 solo show at the Forster Gallery in London.

Baldwin’s paintings and ceramics are being shown in Los Angeles by Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art. Disillusion opens on September 10, 2009.

The Good, The Bad and The Belle is currently on view at London’s Spring House. The exhibition includes new ceramics from Barford complimented by Hawkins’ photographic portraits. Both artists explore the nature of contemporary Britain with an eye to darker elements of the nations current cultural climate. (via Wallpaper*).
