Serbian-born, New York-based Boogie is known for documenting his native land. He recently hit Tokyo and while the results are mostly unremarkable there’s something to be said for the dull nature of the frames. Boogie’s photos are Japan stripped of pace (mainly) and unusually quiet. (via Mashkulture).

The Art Street Journal Volume II Issue I

tasj front The Art Street Journal Volume II Issue I

The Art Street Journal continues to grow and improve.

Volume II Issue I has just been released, and comes chock full of reviews and features covering the latest in contemporary art. Included are reviews of “Viva La Revolucion” at the Museum of Contemporary Art San Diego and Ben Eine at Lazarides. Photographer Boogie is covered, as is Dan Witz. The street art photography section comes back bigger and better, now expanded to 2 full pages.

In addition to the great material inside, the stock of paper has also been boosted. For those that haven’t got their mitts on a previous copy of The Art Street Journal (easy as hitting the above link), you are missing out. It is, in my humble opinion, one of the better outlets in our niche.

Some interior shots of Volume II Issue I.

Boogie “The Uncovering” at Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art

carmichaelgallery boogie1 Boogie The Uncovering at Carmichael Gallery of Contemporary Art

Serbian photographer Boogie will present new works in The Uncovering, opening at Carmichael Gallery on July 10, 2010. A departure from previous works, the exhibited photographs push towards a new color palette and complement the black and white portraits for which Boogie is best known. He returns home to Belgrade as well, finding inspiration in both human subject and nature. In all cases his ability to frame human narratives comes through clearly, Belgrade and New York proving rich backdrops.

The exhibition will run to August 7, 2010. The gallery is located at 5795 Washington BLVD, Culver City, CA.
