“Powers of Ten takes us on an adventure in magnitudes. Starting at a picnic by the lakeside in Chicago, this famous film transports us to the outer edges of the universe. Every ten seconds we view the starting point from ten times farther out until our own galaxy is visible only a s a speck of light among many others. Returning to Earth with breathtaking speed, we move inward- into the hand of the sleeping picnicker- with ten times more magnification every ten seconds. Our journey ends inside a proton of a carbon atom within a DNA molecule in a white blood cell. POWERS OF TEN © 1977 EAMES OFFICE LLC (www.eamesoffice.com)”

In addition to the youtube release of the Powers of Ten, a new website celebrating the film and offering a few products launched on 10/10/10. (via Arktip).

While I’m not too into the sound here, but Jenny Lane’s new “Whoopsy Daisy” video has some pretty good visuals.

The particulars -

The concept and character design both created by Dutch creative production agency Shop Around and its illustrator Niels Kalk showcases the dream of up-and-coming Dutch singer Jenny Lane. Jenny’s journey takes you by the hand through a heavenly environment together with a diverse mixture of beautifully animated characters. With this music video Shop Around and NMtrix lab, responsible for the 3D modeling, Mocap & Animation, were more then able to emphasize Jenny’s exuberant but natural and authentic performance style.

Fresh animation from Ryan Dooley. Each time I see his work, I’ve got a smile on my face. That must account for something, right? (via Wooster Collective).
