Adam James Turnbull wants us to be mindful of everyday objects.

I started working on this series of illustrations just to observe my day a little differently. Most days are spent getting to the studio, drawing, and thinking about briefs, and I just wanted to look at things in another way.

It’s the kind of mindfulness, for example: you can look at a tree and think ‘that is a tree’ or you can look at the shape of the tree, the colours of the leaves, the texture of the bark and the life forms that use it for a home. I wanted to try and apply this to everyday things.

Sometime in 2010, the folks behind Dirty Dishes had the slightly silly idea of using cheeky vintage photos and putting them on dinner plates. After doing lots of research, talking to lots of people, and receiving loads of positive feedback, they wondered if this idea was so silly after all. And thus Dirty Dishes was born. There is revolution afoot in the world of Typography. Defenders of the font Comic Sans have banded together to try and bring a better understanding and appreciation to the often maligned type set. Casting recognizable brands and logos in the infamous type, the people running Comic Sans Project might just change some minds. It’s not just the font of the family news letter anymore.

Banksy recently updated the “outdoor” section of his website to include several new pieces in the UK. Looks like we are eating our words about the falling shopping cart piece.

From December 1st-23rd, POW will be offering a limited edition of signed and numbered prints from artists Tilt, Cept, Mighty MO, EVOL to name only a few. This is following a new show that opened on the 1st of December for the Berlin based EVOL. The show is Entitled “A Site For Sore Eyes”.

In November, we brought you the images of El Mac’s work at the Montana Factory in Barcelona Spain. Today, Mac released this awesome wide format video on his blog. The video was made by Popcranc, who issued the following statement about the vid:

From the very start, when we had the opportunity to speak with Mac and find out more about his work, we decided to center the video idea not on the mural process, but on the style and inspiration of the author. The suggestive image of the girl which he painted really reminded us of Andy Warhol’s screen tests, and the simple details characteristic of Jean-Luc Godard’s Anna Karina. So we threw ourselves into the project, playing with that inspiration. The main thing was to use the dramatic combination of black and white, just as Mac did with his piece. We had a great time during the whole process with Mac, Ari, and Kim, and hope that they’ll come back to Barcelona soon. Many thanks to Montana for the opportunity!

Wyatt Mason penned an article about Ai Weiwei in the December 2011 issue of GQ. The article gives a lot of background on the artist, including chronicling his time spent living in New York, in the 1980’s.  The article also goes into detail about Ai’s constant struggle with the PRC. It’s definitely worth the read. Check it out over here.

Justin “Jay” West is part of a group show called “Atomic Visions” on view now at Tria Gallery in New York City. It opened last week on the 1st of December and will run through January 7th, 2012.

Using I-frame technology in the digital space, artists can begin submitting one-of-a-kind designs on November 21, 2011. Contestants are encouraged to engage their social networks to vote for their design, as well as share and comment on the artist’s creations through Facebook and Twitter. The winning design will serve as inspiration for a limited edition boot that will be available spring 2012 at select UGG Concept stores and www.uggaustralia.com with a portion of proceeds going to Boys & Girls Clubs of America. To keep the holiday spirit alive, UGG will be integrating US retail stores by accepting contributions at all locations from November 25 to January 8, 2012.
