Vinyl toy fans are in for disappointment next Tuesday when The SUCKADELIC Art Toy Universe rolls into the Big Apple. Host Boo-Hooray Gallery are, in fact, playing up the idea of reluctance in exhibiting a retrospective of vinyl toy artist SUCKLORD. The artist has made a career of satire, forcing social commentary mainly through toy packaging. The Art Toy Universe will display the the full “SUCKADELIC” catalog, SUCKLORD attempting, in part, to vault his star (which, to be fair, shines quite bright).

Runs January 11 to 23, 2011.

Boo-Hooray Gallery
521 West 23rd Street, NYC 10011

More examples of SUCKLORD’s work follows.

British designer Mark Ward draws out an unlikely source of inspiration – basketball – for his Medicom BE@RBRICK figure. He says, “”Spinning basketballs on my finger for eternity was something I always wanted to be able to do as a kid – I’ll never make a Harlem Globetrotter, but I can make my BE@RBRICK into one… ” The perfect gift for the Medicom (and hoops) fiend in your family.
