The Taiwanese artist James Jean recently gave an interview to NYC legend Jeff Staple of Staple Design. The title of the video is “1-2-1.” Watch the footage after the jump.

‘Origin’ is the first solo exhibition from Welsh illustrator and visual artist Stuart Whitton. The title reflects the opportunity to showcase old and new work including collaborations with some of the biggest names in the industry that have never been seen before.

Like many creatives drawing is something that Whitton has done and thoroughly enjoyed ever since he can remember. Continuing this passion his latest work reveals an exploration through the application of traditional mediums in his approach towards image construction, form and the preference to detailed tonal qualities true to the realistic.

The opening night will unveil the meticulously drawn ethereal illustrations of various subject matters such as portraits, animals, and typographic compositions.

Whitton has worked for a range of international commercial clients and produced personal work that has been selected for the Association of Illustrators Images 35 exhibition and the Royal Society of Portrait Painters.

This video documents the process of the artists getting ready for their show at KnownGallery titled “Perseverance” in August of 2012. Then traveling the art cross country from Detroit Michigan to Los Angeles CA, stopping along the way to paint and take in all America has to offer.

PBS Arts Off Book blog, recently produced a video documenting two of our favorite female street artists; Olek and Swoon.

The street is a space where art thrives, and a place where artists can shape the public aesthetic. Olek, a sculptor whose medium is crochet, and Swoon, a mixed media artist, disrupt daily life with work that creates wonder, emotion, and humor. Equally at home in museums and galleries, both artists also create installations that challenge the formats of traditional art spaces. With powerful layers of meaning, beautiful aesthetics, and using unique media, these two prolific creators are pushing the boundaries of contemporary art.
