In November, we brought you the images of El Mac’s work at the Montana Factory in Barcelona Spain. Today, Mac released this awesome wide format video on his blog. The video was made by Popcranc, who issued the following statement about the vid:
From the very start, when we had the opportunity to speak with Mac and find out more about his work, we decided to center the video idea not on the mural process, but on the style and inspiration of the author. The suggestive image of the girl which he painted really reminded us of Andy Warhol’s screen tests, and the simple details characteristic of Jean-Luc Godard’s Anna Karina. So we threw ourselves into the project, playing with that inspiration. The main thing was to use the dramatic combination of black and white, just as Mac did with his piece. We had a great time during the whole process with Mac, Ari, and Kim, and hope that they’ll come back to Barcelona soon. Many thanks to Montana for the opportunity!

I got an email a few weeks back from my friends over at Mid-City Arts in Los Angeles and I have been wanting to post this…

If you thought you couldn’t fall anymore in love with Swoon, here is another chance. The Music Box, her interactive musical shanty town collaboration opened in New Orleans October 22nd. A second performance will happen on the 19th of November. And a third will take place on December 10th. A press release from the show sums it up as such:
Visitors can interact with this musical shantytown’s singing walls, heartbeat-triggered percussion machine, organ staircase and weather sensitive oscillators. Three monthly live performances are bringing together stellar groups of local and international musicians to play orchestrated works on these “instruments.” Quintron, the musician and local legend, conducts this experimental shantytown orchestra.
The Music Box is an important and exciting prelude to the building of Dithyrambalina, an interactive sound sculpture in the form of a permanent three-story house. This project is being led by the influential street artist Swoon, who is known for her community-driven collaborative endeavors. Swoon has designed the house, but will rely on collaborating artists to bring the Dithyrambalina to life. via: Juxtapoz.

Shepard Fairey and his crew recently went to Copenhagen. This 4 part video series chronicles their time there. What started as a peaceful mission end up in something completely different. While ultimately it all worked out for the best, the excursion demonstrates how hard it is to go into another country, no matter how peaceful your intentions, and express what is seemingly a universal ideal in another political landscape. Art, commerce, punk rock DIY ethos and politics all clash in this miniseries. You may have a better appreciation for the UN after watching the videos. The entire 4 part series is after the jump.
