Colab – Flippa Sunglasses by Anthony Lister

10 November 2011, 15.00 | Posted in Design, Fashion | 2 comments »

image slide show new 161150 en 540x540 Colab Flippa Sunglasses by Anthony ListerThe one thing that I took away from my time in Paris, is if it’s in Colette, you should probably own it. These Colab sunglasses are no exception. If you can pull this look off, do it.

Anthony Lister (US/AUS) an Australian born painter turned Brooklyn based superhero. His work can be seen on both the street and gallery walls of London, NYC and Australia. Anthony explores the iconography of modern society. These icons take the form of cartoons and superheroes engrained in our youth by television and pop culture. Mr Lister’s work questions the reality and value of these modern gods and goddesses. There’s one thing for sure, Anthony Lister’s super power is the Midas touch.

Craig Redman | Italian Solo shows

02 September 2011, 13.55 | Posted in Art, Design | No comments »

craig redman slam jam ferrara a 450x540 Craig Redman | Italian Solo shows

The two shows feature Redman’s portrait prints, with Milan dedicated to leading figures from the Fashion System, and Ferrara an exploration of global and local popular culture icons. Redman’s portrait series are timely and culturally relevant, capturing the essence of the protagonist with new shapes and forms. Each piece, placed against a white background in the tradition of cubism, seeks to reinterpret these character traits in unexpected ways.

Subjects retain the stoney/pockerfaced expression associated with traditional portraiture, but it is blended with furiously bright and modern colours that create a juxtaposition between the subject and the visually confronting execution of wonky black lines and sharp pattern fills. The gravitas of a portrait sitting is removed as the reference image of the subject is based on a composite of online photos.

Aside form his portrait work, Redman is the creator of the blog Darcel Disappoints , often

working in collaboration with iconic Parisian store colette where in 2010 he opened a solo exhibition, titled ‘And a miserable day to you too’.

He has exhibited across the world, most notably at the Musée de la Publicité, Louvre, and has also worked on projects for brands like LVMH, Nike, Apple, Vogue, Converse, MTV and The New York Times.

Together with his co-partner Karl Maier, who lives on the opposite side of the world in Sydney Australia, Redman runs the studio Craig & Karl. Together they create big, bold work that is filled with simple messages executed in a thoughtful and often humorous way.

We are really proud to host the colourful irony of this talented artist, who has created this series of work exclusive for Slam Jam.

FriendsWithYou x colette Paris “In the Beginning”

26 August 2011, 16.07 | Posted in Art | No comments »

collete fwy 540x405 FriendsWithYou x colette Paris In the Beginning

FriendsWithYou and colette have teamed up for an exhibit titled “In the Beginning,” a series of works centered around the “central archetype we find in the works of the duo: the boy – a soft, simple, and cute spirit that is all powerful in the same moment. This archetype role speaks to the inner-child inside everyone who looks upon him. It is a tool used by the artists to ask the viewer to think about themselves, like a mirror with a self-reflective story attached to each piece.”

The exhibition will consist of bronze sculptures, a series of prints, including some exclusive edition prints for colette, an animation video piece, and  a series of limited run products from the world of FriendsWithYou.

The exhibit runs August 29 through September 4 at colette Paris.
