Unnoficial New Banksy in London?

jux banksy 540x351 Unnoficial New Banksy in London?

Is it possible that Banksy has been busy in London? We have our doubts. In addition to the fact that the piece has not officially been claimed by Banksy, the softer shading below woman’s body would certainly be a different direction than his his usual style. We know that Blek le Rat has been busy in the streets again these days. Possibly the work of Blek? Another look after the jump.

Early Banksy Work Uncovered in Berlin as Part of New Installation

banksy Early Banksy Work Uncovered in Berlin as Part of New Installation

Before there was Banksy hype, there was a piece of the artist’s work on a wall many people passed and probably didn’t think twice about. But after layers of wall in a Berlin art gallery were stripped away as part of an installation by Brad Downey,a Banksy work with five soldiers, winged angels and smiley faces was uncovered. Downey, a Berlin-based American artist, is showing an exhibition titled “What Lies Beneath,” and focuses on layers of paint.  Downey, who also took part in the 2003 exhibit with the anonymous street artist, remembered Banksy’s work and wanted to uncover it for his 2011 project.

Head of the Kuenstlerhaus Bethanien gallery, Stephane Bauer, is unsure of what will happen to Banksy’s work once Downey’s exhibit ends on October 23rd. It could go back to hiding behind newer works, unless someone buys it for a presumably large amount of money.

2011 shotbyjake.com 3944 540x360 Recap | Olek at Jonathan Levine Gallery, NYC

On the heels of her private installation at Primary Wave, Olek opened a solo show at the Jonathan Levine Gallery last Thursday entitled “The Bad Artists Imitate, The Great Artists Steal.” The exhibition includes Olek’s interpretation of various famous pieces ranging from the work of Picasso to that of Banksy. Olek also mixed up the color scheme a bit this time around. Instead of exclusively using the brilliant pinks and purples, she created several pieces in a monochromatic camo.  More looks after the jump.

banksy antics road show Banksys The Antics Roadshow

Banksy is taking on the role of TV producer with “The Antics Roadshow,” an hour-long special to air on UK’s channel 4 on August 13.  The show will chart “the history of behaving badly in public, from anarchists and activists to attention seeking eccentrics” and has been dubbed an “incomplete guide to total anarchy.”

“Explaining his reasoning behind the show, Banksy said: ‘Basically I just thought it was a good name for a TV programme and I’ve been working back from there’.

Narrated by Kathy Burke and produced by Jamie D’cruz, The Antics Roadshow examines the stories behind some of the most audacious stunts of recent times and what motivates the perpetrators, from mindless boredom to heartfelt political beliefs.

It includes a world exclusive first interview with the man responsible for putting the turf Mohican on Winston Churchill’s head.”
