For those of you that have that late night hankering to ping pong. Well, maybe it’s a bit more serious with a price tag like this (a cool $1,900)…
Following up on the success of the very limited (we’re talking 5 for sale) Chalk ping pong table for PUMA, NYC’s aruliden have developed a lighter & less expensive version that will be available exclusively through the Conran Shop. The new design features a black laminate surface for ultimate performance with a white powder coated metal frame, and sports a traditional net (as opposed to the chain-link net that was featured on the Chalk table). via: Arkitip

In celebration of its 58th issue, which celebrates them theme of color, Arkitip selected a group of artists to create whatever they wanted to using supplied Comex color.
“Artists will use the magazine as a medium to give the viewer a closer look at their created works. The selected artists were encouraged to dig deeper into their process to showcase the inner workings of their creations. The culmination of these efforts will spread across multiple Arkitip platforms.
Along with the printed issue edition we have shot a series of Chronicles to document the artist’s processes. To round out the project, the release will be celebrated with installations of the featured artists created works at Project Space, in Los Angeles.”
Contributing artists include Aaron De La Cruz, Anthony Lister and Skypager. The opening reception is August 11, from 7-10p.m.

In a city without cars, Julian Schnabel’s Venice Biennale work, The Ones You Didn’t Write – The Maybach Car”, certainly stands out. The work, essentially a vandalized test car, drawings by Vahakn Arslanian inside the windows and Schnabel’s scrawl on the body. It has also been shot at. A take on luxury, and a whole lot more. More looks after the jump.

Rostarr for Curated by Arkitip features original artistry inspired by the 2009 Tour de France through which the artist explores the nature of competition between individuals, the energy and emotion of the race as it happens and, ultimately, the reward. The series of polymorphic paintings combines hard architectural lines with a soft palette of grey and a pop of orange, exemplifying a visual language Rostarr calls “Graphysics,” which characterizes the geometric dynamism found in his work.

Inaugurated in 2008, Incase Curated by Arkitip is one of the richest collaborative series melding product and street art. My friend Peter Williams has done a super job chronically the project in a new feature over at Highsnobiety. He speaks to the latest artist involved, Rostarr, and the two men most responsible for Incase Curated by Arkitip – Damon Way and Scott A. Sant’Angelo. Read the feature here.
Above is the latest effort from Rostarr.

Arktip has announced that Issue No. 0056, featuring the now ubiquitous (and excellent) JR is now available. The write, “JR utilizes the biggest art gallery and exhibition space in the world. He exhibits freely in the streets of the world, catching the attention of people who are not museum visitors. His work mixes Art and Act; talks about commitment, freedom, identity and limit. Working with a team of volunteers in various urban environments, he mounts enormous black-and-white photo canvases that are spread on the buildings of the slums of Paris, on the walls in the Middle East, on broken bridges in Africa, and across the favelas of Brazil. These images become part of the local landscape and capture people’s attention and imagination both locally and around the world. During JR’s projects, elderly women become models for a day and kids turn “artist” for a week. In this art scene, there is no stage to separate the actors from the spectators.”
