Monocomplex, a design firm located in Seoul, Korea, has unveiled two new lighting fixtures. The first (seen above) is called “Retro TV Lighting.” The firm says, “According to digital time’s advent, analog things are being protruded to the back seat. Retro TV lighting intends to deliver warmness in memories to users by moving the warm nature of wood materials along with analog emotion to the illumination.” “Retro TV Lighting” was designed by Park Hyunwoo.

After the jump, check out “Spool Lighting” designed by Hwang Eunsang. This piece hinges on associations with the spool and mothering – specifically the connection between the spool and sewing. It is a contemporary nostalgic reinterpretation of the object, proposing a natural warmth.

That warming glow is the connector between the two designs.
