On view through December 8, 2010 -

Gallery Bergelli presents Memories of the Infinite, an exhibition of new paintings by Chilean artist Mario Gomez. For collectors of Gomez, this is a rare opportunity to acquire his latest work. Gallery Bergelli is currently the only gallery in the United States with his paintings. Previously included in many of the Gallery’s group shows, Memories of the Infinite brings together a much more extensive selection of his work. Gomez’ vibrant work breathes life and joy. Playful objects such as the juggler, the ballerina, the horse, intermingle with simple architectural constructions, influenced by the literature of Latin-American magical realism. The artist creates a world of fantasy, reassembling familiar images and spaces, creating a new synthesis.

Mario Gomez was born in 1968 in Concepcion, Chile. He has exhibited in galleries and museums in his native Chile and Japan, New Zealand, Finland, various European countries, and the United States. Gomez’ work is in museum collections including the National Fine Arts Museum, Santiago, Chile; Mucsarnok Museum, Budapest, Hungary; Sogetsu Museum, Tokyo, Japan; Revolution Museum, Moscow, Russia; Maisond’ Amerique Latine, Paris, France; and Osaka Contemporary Art Center, Osaka, Japan.
