Video | Ai Weiwei: Sunflower seeds

20 October 2010, 15.55 | Posted in video | 1 comment »

There’s been ample coverage of Ai Weiwei’s Tate Modern installation. The most recent has questioned the health concerns raised by visitor interaction with the seeds (subsequently, the installation is now roped off). Consider the above the official video, as it comes directly from the Tate Channel. Ai Weiwei describes his motivations and heads back to China to meet the artisans who created his seeds.

It may be longer than the average net video, but I promise Ai Weiwei’s Chinese visit is worth the length.

  1. wow…this is unbelievable…
Sunflower seeds are one of the favorite snacks of Chinese culture…
I love how Ai WeiWei was able to show the international audience an amazing installation that not reflects Chinese culture in such an interesting and fun way!

I will be paying closer attention to Ai Wei Wei now…
