In the wake of the Hillsborough disaster (the devastating human crush at Sheffield Wednesday F.C.’s stadium in 1989), Stuart Clarke began documenting the changing face of England’s national game – football. The images are varied and powerful. He captures the passion of the players. The agony of the fans. And, the solemn feel of empty stands.
Clarke’s The Homes of Football carries his mission.
His photographs snap time and place. Most importantly they harness mood.
More of Clarke’s work after the jump.
