Concerned with the absurdity of everyday life, sculptor Alastair Mackie employs found objects to form a tension between natural and manufactured structures. The contrast helps the artist to explore themes of science, religion, and tradition – all three of which are regular features of his work.

Tradition in the arts also figures into Mackie’s sculpture; architectural elements, in form of models, as well as manufacturing machinery – quite particularly, a loom – are examples. Balanced with his material choices, these direct images help to further the potential of his chosen themes.

Mackie works in London. More of his work after the jump. (via OneEightNine).
