Ron Arad | Design Museum, Holon

Though Ron Arad does not want to be recognized simply as an Israeli designer, he is the appropriately chosen architect of the new Design Museum in Holon (just outside Tel Aviv). As one might expect, the building stands as a monument to the city. Yatzer has produced a solid first look at the project, complete with a brief conversation with Arad. His remarks are telling of both his design ethos and the thought process behind creating a public monument. From the report, it would seem that the balance between sculptural architecture and exhibition space has been met. The true test will come in March, when the Design Museum opens its doors.
