Mark Rothko: The Seagram Murals
09 October 2009, 14.44 | Posted in Art | No comments »

In 1988, when the Tate Liverpool opened its doors, the museum did so with a display of Rothko’s The Seagram Murals. Just over 20 years later the series returns, displayed throughout the ground floor in a fully immersive environment of 9 paintings. This is the way to see Rothko. Done well at the Tate Modern and done perfectly at the Rothko Chapel in Houston, TX.
The Seagram Murals remain on display until March 21, 2010.
Above (in duplicate), Red on Maroon, 1959.
