Single collector shows are often wonderful examples of particular moments in art history. This, of course, follows on the obsession of the collector. Their desire to build a comprehensive story through the pieces they purchase. Dan Hopkins is one such collector, and his eye for contemporary art is highlighted in a show titled “Selections from the Dan Hopkins Collection” opening on Friday at Montanaro Contemporary Arts in Portsmouth, RI (2967 E. Main Road).
Pieces from the Clayton Brothers, Shepard Fairey, and Sam Flores are among the highlights.
