Larry Johnson at the Hammer Museum

Larry Johnson lived for 25-years in the mid-Wilshire area of Los Angeles. Unlike the majority of his fellow Angelinos, he lived without a car. The experience brought him close to his City, a relationship that comes through in his cartoonish abstractions. A comprehensive essay on Johnson’s career, written by Russell Ferguson, is available on the Hammer Museum website.
The exhibition runs to September 6, 2009 at the Hammer, on the campus of University of California, Los Angeles.
More of Johnson’s work after the jump.
