Nicolai Ouroussoff rips into Forest City Ratner’s decision to scrap a Frank Gehry design in favor of a budget conscious arena by Ellerbe Becket (rendering above) in today’s NYT. The move, taking away an opportunity to build a magnificent structure in Brooklyn for Nets basketball, is viewed as a major blow to architecture and the public trust. He’s right.
