Self-Portraits at Circle Culture Gallery

CircleCulture Gallery has collected self-portraits from contemporary artists spanning four continents for their newest exhibition. The idea behind the show is to explore the historical tradition of the self-portrait through fresh eyes and techniques. As they note, in the early Renaissance period it became common for artists to insert themselves into their paintings. With this in mind, CircleCulture brings the self-portrait into contemporary art context.

The exhibition runs June 4 to July 5, 2009.
