curated mag - San Francisco Graphic Design

The rich retrospective presented in San Francisco Graphic Design is comprised of twelve mini-exhibitions featuring fresh, bigger-than-life designs by each studio. This extraordinary range of cross-disciplinary work showcases print, packaging, exhibit, and website design produced in San Francisco. Recognizable icons and familiar packaging point to creativity, strategy and technology with two illustrated timelines acknowledging the City’s vast continuum of design creativity. The featured designers have influenced and inspired their clients and their colleagues, our community and our culture. As the mentored become mentors, as the students become rising stars, and as the public becomes ever more discerning, the City’s continuum of innovative graphic design renews itself as surely as sourdough starter.

Designers include: Philippe Becker (Philippe Becker Design), Adam Brodsley & Eric Heiman (Volume Inc.), Josh Chen (Chen Design Associates), Barbara Vick (Barbara Vick Design), Tom Ingalls (Ingalls Design), Jennifer Jerde (Elixir Design), Mitchell Mauk (Mauk Design), Jennifer Bostic (Paper Plane Studio), Sara Schneider (Chronicle Books), Michael Schwab (Michael Schwab Studio), Christopher Simmons (MINE), Cinthia Wen (NOON).

On view to April 26, 2009 at San Francisco Museum of Craft + Design, 550 Sutter Street.
